About stewart
Stewart is Purdue’s Christian Cooperative house for women. The atmosphere is conducive to Christian living, scholastic achievement and leadership skills.
Each of the members spend a few hours per week on meal and house duties.
House members pay an average of $445 per month for house bills. Quiet hours are observed to foster academic excellence.
Through hard work and dedication, the women of Stewart are able to attain excellence in the cooperative living system.
In the past Stewart Cooperative has been fortunate enough to win the Best Cooperative House of 2019. Member Renovation Project.
Stewart enjoys formals, the fall barn dance, intramural sports, philanthropies, and socials. We also have weekly Bible studies, prayer, and worship.
The women of Stewart come from a variety of different backgrounds and have diverse personalities, yet each member forms one body in Christ.

the history of stewart
1958
Purdue's existing men's Christian cooperative house, Fairway, was established (now known as BYX).
1986
With the idea partly fueled by Fairway, Purdue student Stephanie Smith proposed the idea for a women's Christian cooperative house and became a reality when she discovered the recently dissolved Sherman Cooperative.
The original Victorian-style house is on 131 Pierce Street, named after Purdue Vice President R.B. Stewart and his wife Mary.
1999
Purdue informed Stewart of their plans for a new Krannert school of management facility, Stewart moved to the residence we have now across Mackey Arena. Formerly known as Rochdale Cooperative, we have a stately castle-like structure, a spacious front patio and a beautiful great room situated at the entrance of Purdue's campus. Stewart is a place of warmth, beauty, and invitation.
